Default The governor is back there somewhere.....

Hi all, I decided to burn some extra fuel on the way home from work today and here is what I achieved just before I hit the brakes (protecting my self from what might be waiting on the other side of the hill with a radar gun).

I, and many others, have always been led to believe 109 was where we were limited to (L27'*). This is just to prove other-wise. I am betting that if I had a good straight level stretch of road I would have probably been able to hit 125 and maybe even close to 130.

Default Govenor?

Yesterday I had a late model V-6 Accord (NOT the brand new one) try to jump me on a fairly deserted interstate. I saw 125 MPH and backed off- while still pulling. The Honda or it'* driver gave up a little before then......

At what speed does the computer supposedly shut down a '96 like mine?
Just curious, but I suppose that I'l find out for myself sooner or later!

Default weird.

Hard to say what my engine will do, (rpm limiter) but the service manual saids (will display code between 0-159mph, this car came with gt-4 (I think) tires maybe it was alowed a higher speed limiter but my rpm limiter is at 6336 (sound right?) its 63 somthing somthing. Ill have to look it up. I found a new way of jugding vehicles. (axle ratio wise)

What is your RPM in last gear at 60mph. according to car and driver mines 1550 (or atleast the lesser 1990 trofeo was, in 92 they had 10hp more and 10ft pounds more then 90) they didnt test the 1992:(
but that would be a good way to judge your top speed. Cuz if your pullin hard at 60mph you probably wont be able to go faster.

lol and new chevrolet SUV'* and Light trucks and probably some cars that have onstar can have a message that comes on saying
"sir, (or madam, who ever owns the vehicle) this vehicle was not designed to be driving at speeds at or over 160km/h, reduce your speed or we will shut your vehicle off, oh and insidently your warrenty is void"
But luckly for me my duramax diesel truck is governed at 97mph 155kmh

Officially, 128. It can vary by one or two mph.

That 117 that started this thread may be a fluke. It really depends on what the VSS signal is telling the PCM. Are your tires stock? It doesn't take much to change your VSS. If your car is naturally on the high end to begin with, and you slightly change from the stock wheel diameter, you could see 117 or even 120, I'd bet.

My tires are 225/60/16 Goodyear Regatta'*. The speed of 117 is what my GPS said I had achieved and my speedo at the time I let up showed 115-116 mph. My GPS is only hooked up to my car through the cigarette lighter so it was by no means comunnicating with the speedo or the car itself.
