If buying a Performance Muffler n such is even going to bring me any gains in HP? Am I going to waste my money when I buy this? I almost give up trying to get this thing as powerful as my brother in laws all stock 97 regal n/a. No matter how much I do to mine it seems a series 2 has 100 times more power than a series 1. The worst part is his regal needs work and runs like crap . I give up. I though maybe getting the exhaust done would help, but I still wonder if its worth the money.

There is not much to be gained by the exhaust only, more of a vanity mod because of the sound than a performance gain. With that said you will pick up a few ponies but not enough to nail you to your seat.

The exhaust will actually hurt you more than help, unless you have a ton of mods to back it up.

It'* more for sound and cosmetics.

I'd say with your intake, you should gain a noticeable amount. Like already stated, it won't be enough to nail you to your seat, but it will be felt. I wouldn't go back for twice the money

A muffler/cat will help.

Series II N/A has 5 more ft/lb peak power, and it'* much higher RPM. Mods are just easier to buy for it that'* all. Jeffrey, Wren, and DrJay, have proved we can do whatever we want.

First what kind of plugs and wires do you have? And an intake will most likely help a bit... Everything helps out... Have you ever ran a bottle of Fuel system formula through the tank to help clean the injectors and intake ports.?? Try some Duralube Fuel system formula.... Every little thing helps... Good Luck
I have ac delco rapid fire plugs and autolite platinum wires. I have a home made intake. Its the stock box and a 6 inch round duct to the back of the headlight made from sheet metal.

Ideally, you need to ditch that intake setup eventually for a smooth pipe and cone filter in order to stuff more air. Your'* is basically the same as my first setup, only I used three 2" ducts.

It'* that accordian tube that kills the performance, but you're breathing better than stock, and should have felt the difference. With the intake done, the exhaust will be more noticeable. These two really should go hand in hand.

I had the same experience. My friend was drunk and I had to drive him home in his 96' Regal( first year with series 2). I started it and it sounded identical to my car, so I thought this ought to be familier, you know just like driving my car. Um.... no. I put it in gaer and accelerated just like i would in my car and almost rear ended the person in front of me. Then on the highway I had to make sure to take my foot off the gas every once and a while to keep under 80mph. I was thinking WTF is wrong with my car. Those Regals must be light. I've heard a stock GS can run quiker than a GTP stock.
