Default Some odds and ends

I replaced the stock resonator with a 2.5" magnaflow and added 2.5" pipe back all the way back to the stock Y pipe. I will be doing the Y at 2.5" and dual Magnaflows in a few months. I'm also experimenting with ways of getting cooler air to the FWI. I first tried Reflectix from Lowes on the intake pipe, but it actually made the IAT temp higher so I took it off. I then ran a 4" drying hose from the front air dam to the filter. I also cut a hole in the belly shield. These two mods keep the IAT temp to within 5 degrees of ambient temp while driving and only 15 degrees sitting in traffic. If this continues to work at getting cooler air up to the filter, I'll add some screening to cover the hole in the shield to keep out road debri.

Reflectix has a nasty habit of holding heat IN. And that looks like the same resonator I have. Just to let you know, after the resonator 'breaks in' (3-6 months) the sound will change somewhat. For the better.

IF you can manage to keep heat out of the protected area to begin with. In your case, when air flows, it can get by. You're protecting the filter from radiant heat, but you don't have a sealed chamber. Reflectix insulates from the inside AND outside.
