I need to do a fluid/filter change soon and would like to do a shift kit also.
I noticed that some kits come with the filter and new gasket and some don't, what would be my best bet for a good kit but not expencive?

A number of folks on the club (including me) have been happy with the price and performance of the Thrasher kit:

I really don't want to mess with the tranny myself. How long do you think it would take a tranny shop to do it?
They already quoted me $70 parts and labor to do a fluid and filter change.

If you supply the kit, I'd expect them to charge you maybe another hour'* labor. I dunno, $50 or $60?
I would make absolutely sure beforehand that they know exactly what you're asking them to do, and are willing to do it. Bear in mind they'll probably also say, "this mod will negate any and all warranty(*) on our work."
