The computer on the Northstar transmission retards the spark timing during shifts, that'* the reason it doesn't chirp going into 2nd. This helps with the trans life by reducing the force of the shift. So I don't think a shift kit would be any good, or do much for the trans.

You'll still feel it, and you'll still reduce clutch wear.
