I'm running 104'* at .050. I'm very suprised I have any KR, especially since it is cold out.

Could it be false?

Would using some of that engine cleaner help, as well as cleaning out the TB?

KR is a silly mess. Right off the bat I would personally check all points of failure than could use maintenance. PCV, wires, check the plugs, remove TB and clean it (new gasket), run at least 93 octane, etc.

I always use 93 octane. I'm going to be getting new struts installed soon, so maybe I'll have the TB cleaned then. It might help a little.

It could be false, but I doubt it. If it goes up with rpm chances are its real, if it goes down as rpms increase, its probably false. Anyways, with your mods, that KR number doesn't suprise me. Lots of things would help fix it, insulate some things under the hood, make sure you're downpipe isn't hitting your swaybar, topend cleaner wouldn't hurt, but put some 100 octane or something like that in it and see if KR goes away, if so its real, but I bet you're gonna find that it is real. I know a guy that has everything you have, but also 1.9 rockers/springs/retainers/pushrods, and a DHP instead of Intense PCM and he gets about 2-3kr. We're taking the easy way out on that deal though...he decided to go with an SS IC, not a bad deal for $549.

With KR you can't hear it (its pulling timing so it doesn't ping, you would hear it if the car didn't have knock sensors), and you can't really feel it either.

So let'* assume this is real KR.

I'll clean the TB, clean the engine with Seafoam or equivalent on my next oil change, insulate the exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe. Spring time I'll get PEM'*. This should help a bit right?

I've looked at the ZZP SS IC on many occations, and I think it would be the perfect thing for my car. It might end up being my big summer purchase eventually.

Cleaning all that stuff, along with PEM'*, and insulating that stuff, should do a pretty good job of getting rid of that KR. What do you have for a t-stat? A 160 t-stat wouldn't hurt either if you don't already have one. PEM'* would help a great deal by themselves I would think. Those along with a SS IC and some 1.9 rockers and that would be a nice running car, not too overly done, but plenty quick.

The extra 20 degrees would help even more, and with your PCM its not gonna set an SES light.

Maybe once it warms up, I'll switch to it.

The PCM is set for 180. The 160 will require a PCM change for fans and the EC temp DTC.
