i know till the day i registered on this great forum that many people had installed rocker 1.9s on their SSEi for performance upgrade...but..

i was talking to my friend about my upcoming mods to do (rockers 1.9 with LS6 spring)
but he told me that if i do that ill waste my money, and he told me that it has nothing to do with performance...

he told that its useless to put rocker 1.9 with spring and OR pushrod(ok for OR pushrod)
so right now im confuse... :?

can someone here tell me how exactly a set of rockers 1.9 will help? and really give horsepower?

for myself i was thinking it let valve open wider so it give more hp, or something like that.

finaly he tell me that only a cam will make a difference.

so thats it, cam or rocker? im looking for low 14s on street tire with a 3.25 pulley
(ported manifold, FWI, plugs, PCM, rocker or cam)

Rockers will help horsepower, depending on setup, as much as a cam. Springs don't normally help unless you have a cam or higher ratio rockers like the 1.9. I am doing new springs, valves, and higer ratio rockers. I expect a decent amount of increase.

1.9:1 rockers on an L67 is a very nice mod for the money.

According to your friend, if the 1.9 rockers do nothing then neither would a cam.

cool, i think hes just too confident because he install one day a 5.0liter in a old thunderbird with a friend, his friend got a modified rambler too, and he help him ... this probably make him a "mechanics" now

1.9 rockers don't do anything, all the dyno sheets that show power gains, and the timeslips that show faster times don't mean anything. Why would more valve lift and slightly more duration make your car faster!?!?

Your friend is a moron. Rockers will provide a nice gain (about half of what a cam would give) without anywhere near as much work and at a slightly cheaper cost. In fact, I recommend them over a cam to L67 owners unless they want to get really serious.

So you're friend thinks that a car with Ford'* 5.0 ( 5.slow ) is a real car. If this 5.0 is stock, I suggest you take you're stock car as it is to that nice little track by you're house and blow Mr. 5.0'* doors off. If you really wanna be mean, install the rockers and 3.25" and murder him.

A stock L67 will DESTROY a stock 5.0.

its already done i beat him, but he still tell me that its not a real car if its not a muscle car, or something close to that, he believe that any muscle car are fast as hell, yes they can go fast,but stock, theres just few muscle car under 14s. A lot are over 15-16 second on quarter mile.

Its like a ricer that think a Sohc civic will match an L67 car. (happen again yesterday, my numbers are still on my windows from last friday drag,

so 2 teen ( the "yo men wazzup" style) come on my side and he was reviing his big block Sohc 1.6 with a pipe that you can ear from the moon, so they were lookin at me like i was driving a minivan , and he go away speeding like 15-20 mph over the speed limit and flashing his emergency light.
