Default quick exhaust advice needed

Would putting 2 1/4 outlet pipes on my muffler with 2 1/2 outs cause me to lose power? IM asking this because i dont have access to a welder and it would be about the only way to get my exhaust to finally stop haning down and falling off all of the time.

I'd say that'* a big yes. Factory exhaust is 2.25 outlets.

Combined area on 2.25" outlets is 8 inches square. Dropping to 2" outlets takes you to 6.28 square inches. That'* a significant volume loss.

I'm not sure it would be much. It'* two pipes with more area than the one pipe to the muffler. I doubt you'll outlfow the 2.25".

You'll be fine, (2) 2.25 outlets will not the be the bottle neck in your exhaust. Your down pipe and main pipe is a single 2.25" or 2.5".

Good point. But at the same time, why go smaller?

unfortuanetly i have to work with what i have. right now i dont know how to weld yet, and all my tools are up at the shop. But im so sick and tired of having a crappy exhaust system that at this point ill do anything to get it done. I think you read the post before i edited it, willwren, im going down from 2.5 to 2.25, which is what most people run anyway right?

Outlets from the muffler are 2.25" stock. Not 2.5". Factory muffler on SSEi'* and SSE'* is 2.5 inlet, 2.25 outlets.

You'll need some adapter flanges then. Make sure you got 2.5 OD to 2.25 ID.

Ok guys thanx for the advice. I give up for today, i would rather wait until i have a few more tools around to fisnish this up, i did however fix the connection at the cat. converter, the damned thing was almsot completely out of the u-bend, so it would buzz. It sounded like a dodge neon and a comaro all at once. Ill probly take to work on saturday and just have someone teach me how to weld and leave the equipment on there
