I was looking around on Intense and was looking at their cams. I know they recommend the other parts, timing chain and other stuff, but is it necessary?? Would I haft ta have it??
I am already seriously considering the 1.9'* and valvesprings, I would kinda like to get the cam also.
I would like some opinions and advice,
Tim

You dont need the rockers if your doing the cam, stay with your stock valve rockers and upgrade to 105 springs, titanium retainers, new lifters, timing chain and damper.
Expect about 40hp
Expect about 40hp
A new timing chain is always a must whenever you change to a more aggressive cam and valvespring are also usually necessary due to the higher lift to prevent valve float at high rpm.
In for a penny....in for a pound. :P
Because I didn't want to open up more than I had to with my low mileage engine, I elected to go with just high ratio rockers to get the lift but not the duration a cam would also give. The trade off was only about 10 hp plus the ability to pulley down a little for another 10 maybe.

40 hp is pretty noticeable does it matter my car is the SE model will it still be around 40 hp??
The cam would probably be more of what I am looking for then...
So it would be a two day job probably right??
thanks for the advice guys, I really trust what you all have to say: P-dad and Silver Bullet.

oh that'* no problem. I guess the cam would be the way to go.
The cam makes a dramatic improvement in the sound of the car also. I like that too.
I may take the dive into it. It'* kinda scary taking that much on, timing chains, dampeners, lifters, cams...etc. I don't know yet. I may go for it.

As for a cam. I would suggest looking into the ZZP GT series. The GT1 is by far the most proven n/a cam. Buck531 on ClubGP dropped 3 tenths going from a S1X to a GT1 cam alone. Many other GPs have gone mid 14s or faster with stock stall and (their) stock 3.29 FDR. The GT1 has a much broader powerband than the Intense cams and is still capable of 230+ whp.
Your typical cam install kit will work and it'* a good thing to replace the timing chain/tensioner while your in there.
I agree with Mike....for NA the GT1 is the one to go with. After recently installing a NA S1x with HV3 and headers on a 03 Impala i think the GT1 has a better powerband, and more avalble power
