hi

i wasnt able to borrow a mic today, but did find my rpo codes. my LSS has the F41 suspension. Is that important information concerning the swaybars?

Also, checked with parts department today, and largest stabilizer bars they list for either LSS or Bonneville is 32mm, with 28 and 30mm being the lesser bars.

What specifically is "F41", and how does it compare to the SSEi ?

The F41 Suspension is a performance suspension. I believe it incorporates the 1 1/4" (32 mm) bar. The F41 is a very good choice. You may wish to compare the two bars by calling a GM parts dealer. Have them give you the diameter of each of the front anti-sway bars (for the F41 and the FE2). That will give you the best idea of what you have compared to the SSEi. FE2 is what came in the later SSEi's.

i talked again to GM parts today, and he said that F41 did have the 32mm front, same as the FE2 SSEi.

As for the rear, he thought that it was also the same 23mm for both packages/cars.

The only real difference was the spring rates...change those and I would duplicate the SSEi.

Although my car has 0 rattles and squeaks, do you think I'd benefit from the Energy Suspension bushings/endlinks Will has mentioned?

My car handles nice and tight, but "better" is better. :D

I doubt your suspension links are in need of replacement, considering the fact that you have a 97.

The variables in ride quality/firmness are tires, coil springs, struts, and stabilizer (sway) bars. With all those variables, you can achive MANY different ride qualities, without even considering the fact of weight. I'm pretty sure your car weighs more than mine.

The Polyurethane bushings ARE a bit better than the stock rubber, so if yours were new (factory), you MIGHT benefit a little. Being a few years old, maybe a bit more. But probably not as much as I felt with my 93. Just a guess, but fairly educated.

the car was originally purchased by a 70 yr old woman who drove around the county.

since i am only the second owner, and dont drive it rough, its in nice shape. I was thinking of making a few "improvements"..and may still do the links.

its a fairly easy upgrade, wouldnt you say ?

btw, why would you think their would be a weight difference between these? likely, they are very close..say 150lbs, of each other.

You don't have the plastic front fenders like I do (if I recall correctly). Not sure how much that affects......anyone remember how much they weigh? Your car simply LOOKS heavier. Some of it may be a visual trick.

Bill, although this is true, the series II is a much lighter engine. The difference may not be that much. The best way to tell is to compare GVWR from the door jams. I am curious myself.

I didn't measure mine but the ones I got from Saner are much larger than even the stock SSEi ones and definitely flatten the car in transient moves.

FWIW, they are steel fenders. Strange, since the other two "H's" had the plastic.
