Question on replacing head lights with aftermarket high watt bulbs help please!
 

Hi, I'm new here and own a 2000 bonneville. I am buying a cold air intake off ebay, along with some 5900k high and low beam hipro power bulbs. Now its a 9005/9006 kit with both sets. Sounds simple right? Well I was doing some more searching and there is a harness that matrix recommends you just unplug and plug a new harness in the back of the bulb and into the factory harness. Now I also see a harness with a relay, but some say for hid and some say for high wattage bulbs. Now my question is, are these really necessary?

I had a 1989 berreta and i had the 100w matrix bulbs in there for the highs and had a problem with the head light relay tripping and losing my lights while driving! NOT FUN! So what do you guys and gals thing?

Throwing higher wattage bulbs in there is gonna blow fuses and possibly melt the housing, I wouldn't reccomend it

as for the harness, I only have expierence with HID ones

Its just that the low beams really really really suck! The fog lights really don't seems to do much either. I figured upgrading them all would be cheap and effective. How much would hid conversion run for low and high beam both? I'm kinda really limited on funds. So I'm looking to be cheaper but also reliable.

If your low beams suck are the housing's yellowed? that makes a huge difference. Also try angling your headlights up, park against a wall and just make sure you turn the screws evenly,dont go to high, its best to do it at night, and even park your car in a flat parking lot and walk 50ft. away. thats basically what I did very happy with the results, but I'll be putting in a set of 4300k or 6k H.I.D.'s in just my Low's.... on 00+ bonnevilles the low beam does not turn off when the brights are engaged so the H.I.D.s stay on while the regular high beam bulbs come on. so there will be two types of light spectrum :)

a decent H.I.D. setup is $100 pair for each type of bulb.(9005/9006/9007etc)

Yea I already aimed my lights and have them higher than they were and its a hair better. I see them on ebay for around 50.00 for the 9005 and 50.00 for the 9006. My question is, where the heck do you mount all the ballasts at? Any pics guys? I'm thinking of maybe getting the higher watt bulbs and getting the extra harness with a relay, kinda the same as hid, but i know hid are way better. I guess some pro's and con's are needed for a good decision basis here. The lenses are clear and are pretty good and like new yet.

Good HID kit for less money than some Silver Star Ultra's.

ok here is a link to a ebay kit, they want like 12.99 for the entire hid conversion, but i did a make a offer and said i would pay 13.50 for the 9005 and 9006 kits but they want 29.95 expidited sipping, so i said well as long as i can get it combined for the same shipping price as on one unit but for both. Good deal?

What's the brand? The link I supplied is from a VERY reputable source that has been around awhile.

Not sure on the brand. Now looking at the link you gave me its asking for a 35 watt or a 55 watt +10.00. Now can i get the 9005 in a 55watt and the 9006 in a 55 watt? How does that work?
