I love the sound of my car after I put my Thrush turbo mufflers on, it is nice and deep with absolutely no rasp (less rasp than stock even)

However I would like it just a tad louder..and by a tad I mean a tad lol, and do it as cheap as possible

I do not want to just remove the resonator, as I know that will completely ruin the sound I have going right now and will be way too loud and sound like crap, however would replacing the factory resonator which is aprox. 22 inches long with a 28 inch long 2 1/2" inlet/outlet Thrush Glasspack give me a little more volume by still making sure there is no rasp and keeping the sound nice and deep?

I know it is hard to be certain of what it is going to sound like without actually doing it, but I just dont want to cut out the stock resonator, weld in the glass pack, and then have it sound horrible..and in the end cutting that back out and putting the stock resonator back in.

Suggestions? Comments?

28" is going to be a hair too long.. the o2 sensor is in the way.. gonna have to go with a 25" glasspack which only comes with 2 1/4" inlet outlet.. Is this a bad idea?.. going from 2 1/2" stock pipe down to a smaller size? is it going to be restrictive, or will it not matter being other areas of the exhaust are smaller than that even?

Honestly, I would wait until you can step up to a three inch stainless system from the rear mani to the split, it will deepen the tone and make for a completely restriction free system that will last for a long long time.

3" seems like overkill for a N/A motor though doesnt it? Maybe not, just seems really big to me

Really though I agree with the above, do headers and 3" downpipe first. It'* always good to have it in case you ever do supercharge down the road

I was suggesting the 3" on tone not really sizing it to the flow demands you might need. A larger pipe will have a lower tone than a smaller one.

Headers will help you with flow and sound. a downpipe ill come with a header set. tone is harder to get deeper with the 3.8 engines.

Well I really dont need to get the tone any deeper.. the tone now is very deep and I love it. Just wish it was a tad bit louder.. I don't wanna get any rasp though, so I figured a glasspack in place of the resonator will give a bit more volume but keep the rasp away.

am I wrong? I mean it is a $25 mod and if it will do what I want I think that is worth it.. I just dont want to do it if I am completely wrong on this and it isn't going to do anything. $25 just sounds good until I would decide to spend hundreds by going with downpipes/headers/hi flow cats etc.. if I wanted more performance

The hardest thing to do here is to try to explain exhaust noise, tone and depth. What one person likes and sound deep and resonate, may sound raspy and dull to another. It'* all a matter of taste.

I say throw in the $25 cherry bomb on with clamps and if you don't like it, pull it off and put in a straight piece of pipe instead.
