im lookin on ebay to buy an intake system and some are dirt cheap while others are a bit expensive. is there any significant difference in them. ill show u some auctions im lookin at and if you guys could look and maybe tell me what u think (along with any info that could be usefull) that would be great

I would advise against getting any of those. Most all of them are far too short to do any good, they would be less restrictive than the stock airbox, but since theyre so short, they are going to get heatsoaked horribly, and the air your going to pull in with one of those is probably even hotter than you would with the stock box.

You could also order the FWI kit from Intense, but itll set you back close to 200 bucks.

For an 00-05, I'd suggest a FWI from www.intense-racing.com above all others.

the intake on intense-racing.com seems to have a plastic tubing. how is that any better than a chrome tube?

It pulls from the fender. Cooler air. The tubing is flexible, but uniquely smooth inside. More laminar flow=higher velocity at the TB, and a more accurate MAF reading. There truly is no better option for the 2k and newer 3800'*.

A simple fact you should know is that there is no intake setup that will net you a gain of more than 15 hp -at most. Typical gains are probably more like 7-10, maybe a little more with the Intense FWI, around 12-15 I'll guess, and on a non-SC'ed car like your SLE you'll probably see around 8-10 HP gain.

so basically what your tellin me is that even if i go with the k&n intake that i listed above ill still get some hp increase. cause i dont see a good reason as to why i should spend 200 bucks for the extra 3 or 4 hp, compared to about 60 for just a few less HP

Did you look at the shipping cost on the K&N? Yeah....

If you don't want to go with INTENSE, you can build your own that will be cheaper and more effective than the one you listed on eBay. It'* very simple.

But regardless, if you want to order one from eBay we cant stop you, we just advise against false claims.
