This is a Series II discussion, but my LN3 has done well with an M62 on top of it

I would not buy a kit. It is not necessary IMO. The reason they sell the kit is because its really simple to install since all it involves is changing the intake and its a "kit." However, I would just get the top half of an L67 and put that on. That way you get the L67 injectors and all that as well.

I bought my complete L67 topend (complete is heads, intake, supercharger, vacuum lines, bbv, throttle body, fuel rails, injectors, coil bracket, idler stand off, idlers, crank pulley, and other misc. items) from Ed Morad. I kinda got lucky since another guy happened to need a shortblock at the same time, otherwise I'm not sure that he normally sells the stuff. I also did an XP cam at the same time, along with new timing gear, and springs/retainers/valve seals. The PCM was flashed with a powertuner. (stock DHP L67 engine file w/stock DHP GT tranny file) I got the cam install kit from ZZP when I ordered my cam and whatnot, and the only other gaskets/bolts I needed to get IIRC were my head gaskets & bolts which I picked up at advance for around $80 total IIRC. (I do get a discount though because of school so it might be around $100 or so) Altogether, the whole swap, including two oil changes, coolant, gaskets, cam, etc..., cost me less than $1200. So far the gains have been great. The car has still yet to be tuned and I gained 1.4 seconds and 10mph in the 1/4. The L36 bottom end when I did the swap had 212,209 miles on it. Now its at around 216k and I've had absolutely no issues.

The computer would be the hardest part, but still would not be difficult. All you need to do is convert it to OBDII. You just run the wiring harness from an OBDII car and then splice it in to your body harness, it would be the same thing you would need to do to swap an L67 into like an 88-96 GP. You need to get a wiring diagram of your body harness so you know what wire is for what, and then you get a diagram of the L67 engine wiring harness, and you splice the wires together. It may take a little work to get the gauges and whatnot working but it shouldn't be a big deal. There might be an easier way to do it than this, but this is the way that I have done and that I know of.

IMO a custom chip would be waay easier then splicing into your wire harness. http://gmtuners.com/ will be able to do it.

Depends on your budget and how much you like doing wiring. I can do a harness for a L67 swap in an 88-96 GP in a couple hours. It would be quicker and cheaper than having them do a chip for you, but yes more work. I like using the OBDII PCM better because its the same thing everyone else uses. This way you can tune with the same tools as everyone else and your PCM is doing the same thing. I have extra PCM'* lying around and a powertuner, so I personally would rather just have the OBD II.

Its all personal preference. Thats just the way I'd do it. Getting a chip burned for his setup would work too, it would be a lot of work to get a chip that is right and I think it would take a bit of tuning time though.
