Default A question about 1995 shift points

Does anyone know what the stock shift points are on a 1995 bonneville. I know the tach looks like about 5900-6000 but i know that isnt accurate. If anyone has put a scan tool on their 95 and know the exact number, i would really like to know it. I plan on upping my shifts a little to go along with my er rockers. Thanx

Hard to say... Gennerally the shift should occour at 5900-6000... On a couple of occasions I have found the fuel cutoff( 6200 ), It should have shifted before it ever got there...

And you are still on stock programming right?

What is the manufacture date of your car?

What i am saying is when it shifts it appears to be like 6000. But i know the tach isnt correct. I want to know if anyone has hooked up a scanner and seen exactly what the scanner said for a shift point. Does that kinda make sense? As for man. date, where would i check that?

Agreed... Mike sure went into it... I think he was doing a 6300+ shift? <---- Reason the SRTA trans wasn't holding up really well..

TJ, Mike has a lot of great info... and may have links to some of his threads so you can see what he'* done..

Check the drivers door.... I think my shift is 5900-5950, But I haven't checked it in a long time.. And on the same note I have taped that fuel cutoff at 6200...

I have a 12/14/04 Build... There were some a little earlier than mine that had to have the EPROM replaced due to some driveability issues, my vin just missed that replacement chip.. I do have some driveability issues( very minor, they don't bug me )...

But the strange part was that I did get an upgraded GM EPROM, But it wouldn't let me do any more of the 37-40mph first gear kickdowns... Those dissappeared with the new chip... Anything over 35 was second gear bog with my foot on the floor... after that I went back to the original chip and hit first sometimes at 40 when I stomp it...

I do think Mike will be a great help for you

i can get 37 kick downs but not 40 lol. So you got 5900 on your scanner for a shift point? Wow. I thought the tach was reading high. Then if that is true i dont have to move my shift points up for now.

I have actually ran first into the Fuel Cut Off at 6200... Service manual says 6200 is where tis at... And it didn't shift till after the fuel cutoff ... My car has some hiccups ever now and again...

And the best part.. We aren't managed like the newer L36'* are.. Oh how I wish Lashes car had a PCM

Yea i have been talking to zoom, and he said our 95'* would benefit alot from increased timing. I was told we get 19 degress at WOT is that what you are getting? He told me i could up it to 26 as long as i got no knock and that would net about 14 hp to the wheels in the upper rpms.
