I think the Excel sheet would be easy to update, and the different types of validation would be needed.

If we are going to post 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, maybe we should look into building a database for us and our cars.

IE:

Name
Nick
Year / Trim / Options
Performance Mods
Other Mods
Future Mods
0-60 time
1/4 mile time
A picture
Location
A description

With a database like this you could search/sort to find various things
I realize Cardomain already does this, but something in the Bonneville Club would be neat.... anyways... that'* my 0.02cents.

This sounds cool, but I don't have the time for it. I'd be willing to have the following categories in the spreadsheet:

Name
Username
Year/model
0-60
1/4 mile
verification type (timeslip, gtech, unverified)

It could be expanded later IF the idea works out and doesn't cause problems, assuming someone was willing to take it on.

I wouldn't ask you to do all that work wil.. your plate is full enough.... maybe some members and I can build a beta type database and see if we can get it to work.

Hey fellow computer geeks/nerds out there.... how are your programming skills?
Anyone willing to help me in desiging/building a web database for the stuff mentioned above?

Update Anyone interested in helping me design/build this online database please PM me.

I like the idea of posting 1/4'*. I also think it is a good idea to have the "unverified" tag by those who cannot provide the "burden of proof" to back up their times. By any other means of verification we could have "G-Tech", "Time slip", "Bystander", "Stopwatch", etc... by it to show how the time was recorded. It'* not that I want to call BS on someone for the time posted, but rather be able to see what our cars are truely capable of.

As for ordering the list...a few questions.

1) Assuming only one listing per person? (not listing your last 5 runs)
2) What do the mods here feel is a manageable listing order? Alphabetical easier than time for updateing?
3) Would we want to run the possibility of 1 entry per user (1300+)? or would we have a top 50 list or something like that.

I don't feel by haveing a 1/4 list that we would be "like ClubGP". 1/4'* is car thing, not a ClubGP thing. I am sure there a thousands of clubs out there with similar lists. What would make our list different from the rest is that it is ours.

As far as formatting, it shouldn't be that hard to make up a html table that can be easily updated and formated to match the rest of the site (I'll help build it since I brought it up if needed). Something with the menubar way up top and a matching header to the page.

Just my thoughts, I don't get them to often so enjoy it while you can!

That sounds good to have those things, but I am wondering if maybe you can also make another spot for website/cardomain page, so people can see the car and the mods it has if the owner has a page like this. Then it would be very nice.

How about when posting the 1/4'* we make the usernames links to thier profiles. The profiles can have the links to the cardomain.com pages and also to thier signatures where mod lists can be found. This way there is no upkeep from an administration side to enter the info and to keep the additional info up to date.

my $0.02...

I'm going to be firm about one thing, since the voting seems to finally be leading us to the inevitable......

If someone wants to take on the database/table programming, please do, with my blessing.....HOWEVER:

We're gonna try at least 2 months with this in my personal control, to give the option of an 'instant kill' if necessary. If, at that time, it'* running ok, we'll designate another person to take it on, and move it to the new database. I don't think database size will be an issue. I doubt we'll see more than 50 entries any time within the next year.

For our purposes, my own personal verification will be made public to the board (since I'm in control of the verification, someone else needs to 'police' my data), but all other timeslips/verifications will be kept private between myself and the owner/driver, with only the TYPE of verification listed.

For those that wish to enter, please PM me your name, username, year/model, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, and your timeslip (must link me or email me) Gtech data (for any besides me with the new Gtech) or video of the gtech run, or TYPE of other verification, and I'll throw something together and see how it goes.

Hmmm.....the honor system is still a bit spooky. I think we could find a happy medium and accept Gtech data as well (for those like me without a nearby track), or if at a track, a timeslip. This allows more entries than most car forums. We could even accept ALL entries, and those with no timeslip or Gtech data could be listed as 'unverified' so they can still post their stopwatch data.

How about an Exel spreadsheet? It would be easy to maintain and upload after changes?

I'd be willing to test market this idea, and if we're to do this, I'd like to be the one to Administer it (this would help prevent questioning of verification, and give me the option to pull it if it becomes a problem).

Making this sticky and editing the original post a poll to test this idea
Me like.

Well, if I had decent times I would consider it. But I'm all for the idea!

What if this just attracts flamers and nay sayers? Will the idea be scrapped?

It'll be ruled with an iron fist. I want to know immediately about flamers. If there'* any BS calls, I need to be notified immediately.....in other words, if you smell a rat, keep it to yourself.

Those with VERIFIED track timeslips or VERIFIED Gtech results will be listed as unquestionable. This data should be considered rock-solid. Any other unverifiable means will be listed as such, and should be taken with a grain of salt, but not flamed. I'll post specific guidlines for listing and posting when this goes live.
