my dads always talking about his chevy from high school...
Canary Yellow K-10 Short Bed with that mythic 502
had wider tubs to fit his tires, cut-outs (they were legal back in the day), a Camaro rear end with 4.11 gears, and a mattress. got rolled in '80 during Police Evasion Activties. It was still running when it came to rest so it was driven home, But Grandpa ruled it unsafe. He always tells the story of the time he passed a Corvette that was doing 162 (his speedo went to 100 or so). Oh and the one about the time he smoked a Dodge Little Red Express Wagon. Oh and I cant leave out the time Grandmas car was in the shop and she borrowed his truck, two burn marks all the way across four lanes of highway. Guess thats why he worried when I mentioned getting headers and mandrel bend exhaust.

I wish I lived back in the muscle car days. My dad told me so many stories about him and his Chevelle.

Muscle cars. I am building the ultimate sleeper. 1989 Cadillac Brougham with...

502 cubic inches of boxed-up HELL. All in a neat little package placed under a slightly raised hood. That'll be the only giveaway.

Cheers!

You guys are making me miss my Dad all the more. 35 years in the Arlington Texas GM plant. His slightly moded 65 yellow Impala(black top), moms 1968 Ice Blue Le Mans, Black 1976 Grand Prix SJ, Marrone 1984 Bonneville SSE. And the man drove like a bat out of hell in every car he ever had.(Haven't even mentioned the Buicks and Cadillacs that he owned). Really felt like I'd arrived as a man when I came home and was excited about trying to get my hands on a 1974 Chevelle with a 454 under the hood,(it also happend to be a convertable). Dad didn't say much but he smiled and you could tell his thoughts went back aways. We talked for hours about this.
The blood of gear heads flows through our viens. This is why we do what we do. I'll tell you one other thing: Cherish your Dads. The guy who'* lap you sat on the first time you got behind the wheel of a car. The guy who got in your behind the first time you got a ticket; and later called up his boys and joked about it. The guy who made sure you know how to drink and Drive and not get caught. Cherish your Dads.
