Hey.. at the shop I work at we have been selling PVI(platinum vapor injection) for a while.. It'* installed in our van and it increases gas mileage and adds a tad of power... just wondering if you guys have heard of it.. It keeps everything nice and clean... If you havent heard of it I'll get you all some info.. The stuff worked on our van.. so I'm thinking of putting it on the car.. Ill be back with info.

Would your Van happen to be a turbo diesel? Yeah, vapor injection isnt anything new. it is used to cool the intake charge temp. Although very useful, propane is MUCH more effective. These things are ONLY used in boosted or juiced applications though. They DO work, but as I said, only really for boosted applications, where you have a turbine creating heat. Otherwise, it is mostly useless unless you are cooling the vapor (propane is cold because of pressure). Honestly, I wouldnt bother on a stock vehicle and DEFINATELY not on an N/A engine.

I checked out a pvi system last year. The salesman told me that it is supposed to work similar to a catalytic converter, in that the platinum works as a catalyst and helps burn more of the fuel. The idea is that it makes the combustion process more efficient and burns the fuel in the cylinder instead of wasting it in the catalytic converter. That being said, there are several lawsuits ongoing in my area due to the fact that it is fairly expensive and there is some question as to whether it does anything or not.

omg.. don't make me get into hydro-carbons... lol working with gases is neat but I dont recomend it
Also on new GM'* they put platinum tipped plugs in. good for 60,000km and the platinum helps burn off things the same as a catalytic converter... catalist.. converts hydrocarbons into... somthing else.. lol I need to go back to work... relearn all that stuff...

Basically .. what i got from it is that it makes things burn cleaner.. one car we had at the shop had it and we had the intake off and there was barely any carbon build up at all

Haha, its REALLY bad when it does. Ever seen a car backfire with nitrous? Haha. Lets just say plastic intakes don't last long when it happens. When the car doesnt fuel cut, it makes it even more interesting.
