Hey, what are the casting numbers on that L32? Maybe we could come up with a database on rods/piston casting and part numbers, and pics to go with them.

I have pics of my S1 L67 piston/rod if anyone is interested.

L36 you mean? I do not see what it would hurt to have casting numbers available for those who wanted it. I like having access to those things, personally....

Mods/Admins, could we move this to P&B so it doesn't get buried?

Very cool that you pulled the piston and rod out of that extra engine, Doug.

Are you guys thinking that the compression differences between the L36 and L67 are merely due to different pistons? I guess I was under the assumption that the rods were not the same length between L36 and L67. Mayhaps I was wrong.

Also, can you check the other rod bearings for grooves? I wonder if that'* normal or not.

L36 crank has a 2170 and an L6 cast into it. It is most certainly a cast iron crankshaft. Bull nosed crank throws are not in it'* favor, so I think it needs a knife edge job. That would certainly lighten it up. Pics available if someone wants them posted in this thread. The thrust bearing is located in the #2 main. A note to any who would be tearing these things apart. Mains #1, #2, and #3 all have 10mm (head) side bolts. The #4 main is just held by the main bolts.

Doug, are you getting any good ideas based on what you've seen?

Ok, here are the pics, uncompressed for scrutiny. The bottle is for size comparison...I am sure alot of you guys know how big those are

Just FYI, these are L67 Series 1.
