Default Performance Upgrade

I would like to do the following to my stock 1998 SE
Upgrade Air Intake - stock throttle body but better air box & filter
Upgrade Exhaust - no headers just upgrade either from cat back or including cat
Go to the 180 degree theo
And lastly a chip to wake up these changes
Does this sound like a good plan
I have sent this to 3800 Motorsports and ZZ Performance in an e-mail but have gotten no response.
I have asked what the parts would run and what HP and torque increase I could expect.
What would ya'll think the cost and increases would be in doing this and how hard would it be and would it affect reliability.
Thanks for any help.

well as for the cat back there is no premade kit but you can have acusom one made I would add a high flow cat to that and maybe ported exhaust manifolds if you really want good flow but other then that sounds good and watch for the dreaded lower iintake manifold gasket and the upper intake plenum

Hi there Ernie..

Airbox wise you won't find any mods to purchase except a K&N filter. You can remove some babbles, known as gutting the airbox. That would help flow. We can definately guide you through that.

As for the exhaust. The biggest restriction is the front exhaust manifold. A ported manifold has been found at W-body store around $80, looks stock and works good to our experience. A high flow cat can help down the road, however at this point your car doesn't flow enough that you will benefit from it.

As for ZZP and service, I wish you luck and suggest forming your own opinion. I would suggest contacting www.intense-racing.com also. They probably have more NA mods available than ZZP.

You are going to notice a little increase in power, however should not expect a decent HP number from it. Our cars are designed rather well, until you get serious about modding or have a supercharged engine.

As Gogo mentioned, you should be aware of a possible motor killing weakpoint of your motor, the upper intake manifold.

Here is a link to something all naturally aspirated 3800 owners should know

I doubt you'll get a reply from them with the basic mods that you want.

Look around, do some research, and you'll find your answers.

BTW, ZZP and 3800 Per. have plenty of N/A mods too. It'* typically stuff that you'll get if you really start getting hardcore.
