I have ordered all the tools and some other misc stuff for the winter. I have 80% of the money for the overhaul gasket set, which I will probably order next week sometime. I will be digging into the engine.. either next weekend, or the weekend after. I am hoping, I will be able pull all this stuff off, otherwise I will be turning to you guys' help . Beyond cleaning everything up, I would like to do some performance oriented stuff, so this will be worth all the more of my time. I have these already planned to do:

- Clean heads [both intake and exhaust ports]
- Gasket match the intake to intake ports on heads
- Clean up the extra material on the header crossover
- Eventually afford some header wrap, for that extra performance edge
- Clean up everything all real nice and pretty and reassemble

I was thinking about replacing the timing chain but, if I am going to be in that area, I will be tackling the cam sensor, and if I am replacing the cam sensor, I am going to be replacing the crank sensor. That is too much money for me right now.. i'll wait for one of them to break. I was thinking of doing something with the throttle body, but I don't quite know what. I have a dremel, and a lot of time. Any other suggestions as to what to do?

I think I would try to find the money for a crank and cam sensors.....Just because you'll be in that area of the engine.....It'll be easy...and you know the first 20 miles you get on the motor one of the 2 will fail....At least with my luck that is. I'm thinkin' about completly tearing down my motor this winter....bolt by bolt and maybe just a stock rebuild with tinkering here and there, or just goin balls deep on it and givin it every hi perf part I can get that would work.

I'd love to yank the engine/trans and completly rebuild the engine, dropping in a roller cam, roller lifters, new rods, roller rockers, and every single power-adder available. But, due to lack of funds.. that will never happen.. but the rebuilding of the trans will.. if I keep up my driving style.

I thought that the timing chain/cam/crank sensor were all under the water pump somewhere.. not on the top end. But, I'll see as far as cash goes, i may be able to afford it, if I don't have a bend rod, or a worn out lifter. You are correct, in those will fail 2 seconds after the car is back on the road. As soon as I fail to do something, it will fail instantly. Just because.. that is the way my car operates. Somehow I put up with it, and one day, i'll have a whole new car, and by that time, i'll be breaking the stuff i am replacing right now.. again.

lol I thought you were pullin the motor out...My advice is that if can do it....But don't go homeless over it....Even though you could just live in your car, I've slept in my car once....I think that might have been the best I've ever slept in my life haha

naw, can't afford all the stuff to go along with pulling the engine.

Sleeping in your car? I've done that many times, mom kicks me out for some reason, take my keys, crack open the windows, and lay back and enjoy the most comfortable seat + 16 years a good ole wear. Damn awesome moments spent in that car.

Didn't you tell me just earlier today you weren't into that? tsk tsk.

While youve got the top end apart, Clean as much of the block as you can, Especially the passenger end. That'll help when the Timing chain finally does get replaced. Remember, The cleaner it is the easier it is to work on.

Cleaning.. yeah, I will be spending a lot of time cleaning... hopefully some painting too
