Paul i have to ask.....have you ever used BOTH the HPTand the DHP side by side to comapre the features???

I've used both the DHP and the HPT. No doubt the HPT is a more professional software package, it'* very stable, has a great scanner and many built in tools. On the other hand, the DHP can do far more than the HPT if you consider the 'plugins' but it'* a lot more touchy to use.
Customer support is almost non-existent for DHP and the major selling point, the DHP forum has slowed a great deal over the past year but still contains a wealth of info specifically for the 3800. On the otherhand, there is no migration path beyond the current lineup for DHP but the HPT supports a wide variety of vehicles.
Either way it will entail lots of reading on your part to come up to speed on many tuning aspects but it'* quite rewarding once you get results.
