Default MAF Thoughts

So... I've been thinking about the great things Willwren has been doing with increasing flow and the probability that we're outflowing our MAF sensor. I know there'* aftermarket solutions out there for the Series 2 engine.

Has anyone found anything for the Series 1? I did find one that will work for 94-06 GM: http://www.jetchip.com/products.asp?...&model=591#591

This isn't for me right now, just thinking about the future.

Their is no way any series 1 is outflowing the MAF. Also on the MAF'* you can basically use any MAF out their you just have to put a different MAF table into the PCM.

Who'* outflowing their MAF sensor? It'* not me, and I don't recall reading anyone else'* experience in that regard.

I'd research the effect of the sensor on the overall engine performance before considering changin it. Each input to the pcm changes many other things when factored into the programming.

Morty, that MAF sensor is for applications that have the MAF sensor 'divorced' from the TB. It will not work for cars that have the MAF IN the TB.

Please be careful how you word things. You make it sound in your initial post in this topic that I've made reference or claims to outflowing the MAF sensor. This simply is NOT the case. The GEN3 SC does flow beyond the range of the 92/93 MAF, but not the MAF it'* DESIGNED for. Even with my 2.2" pulley and ported LIM/EMs, I'm not 'outflowing' anything.

Yeah. wording mistake. I was thinking about the trouble I've read about on the board about Jim W having issues with the Gen 3 swap. I was also thinking about Matt'* problems with the 2.2 pulley. I'm not trying to confuse things, just considering alternative solutions.

It will work and has been done on many series 2'*. You just have to epoxy in the MAF hole in the throttle body and program in the correct MAF table into the PCM.

For what added value. One reads flow where it was put by the GM engineers and the other is reading flow in front? of where the GM engineers determined they wanted it.

The both read flow. Maybe there can be slight gains...honestly..99% of the people on this forum aren't into performance enough to warrant it.
