will the fact that the non hd trans has a different fdr effect anything

You may get a check engine light. I forgot what the code is, but its something to do with the FDR not being right. The PCM can detect the mismatch. It happened to my 95 Bonneville when I swapped the 3.06 differential to a 2.81 diff. Only way you can get around that is to have your PCM tuned to the different differential. I had to do that with my 97 Bonneville when I went from a 3.06 to a 3.29.

be very careful because in the 01 gtp the 02 has a newer system. but the older ones will work. but it is alway'* best to get the same year out of the same car. if not get the same year. just remember that each car had it'* own design. so they might not alway'* work.
