Default new option to supercharging L36

Is it worth it?

Not new. Been available for awhile. There are hidden costs.

Cheaper to sell your car and buy an SSEi.
Still cheaper to swap in the entire drivetrain and PCM.

That kit still leaves you with a non-HD trans.

If you can find a L67 at the local you-pull-it. You could do a top swap and HD diff upgrade for relatively cheap. You would still need to tune though.

All depends on the yard and your knowledge.

At least $1500 (plus shipping) for 5 to 6 lbs boost plus the issues willwren described?

Just go buy an L67 engine and tranny.

If it looks too good to be true (and too cheap at that), it always is.

I recently thought I had a problem with the lower end of my car. Many calls and searches told me that yes..you can put a top onto an L36 bottom end and it'll be fast, if you want daily driving and a long life for the motor only the one built to take the punishment (the L67) should be used.

Can you explain that a bit more, Bill? What specifically, engine-wise, makes the L67 bottom end more durable than the L36 bottom end.

I'm not asking to be a wisea$$ or argue, I'm only asking since I hadn't heard that specific statement before and am interested in learning why that would be the case. I'm sure there are others that are just as curious about this as I am.
