If the air bubble is not near the t stat..then the problem would still exist. I drilled a bunch of them when I was having an issue. I turned out that putting the front end on a jack or ramps helped to release the air.

I know a bunch of '93s run 'em and no problems but i don't know, the computer thing just came to mind. I'll try to get more air out...

I know tons of 97'* that run'm too.. I still had an air bubble from H E L L ... it'* aggrevating..I know.

Aggivating yeah, and its not just the car either, my dad is slighty aggrivating too. He was ainst me putting the 180* in to begin with, and now he keeps reiterating that he said it came with a 195* and thats what should be in it.

i'll do some more work with it friday or saturday. I'm probably going to use the gasket as well to help stop that leak, i know its coming out of the Thermostat Housing...

Out of curiosity why does the coolant need to be a mixture with water? I think righ now its about a gallon of water and nearly two gallons of coolant.

This is because by itself water does not have the best cooling properties and due to coolant also being known as antifreeze in the northern areas.. it doesn't have the best properties either. Overall..50/50 in the northern states is the best we can do. Other parts of the country use slightly different ratios to achieve either better cooling or better anti freezing properties.

well mine should be about 60/40 or 70/30

well wait a sec. How much does the whole system hold? and How much does the enine Block itself hold?

when I did it the water didn't drain from the block, and the engine had been run druing the flsh so i didnt want to fish around for the drain plug on the block. FSM says it holds 12.5 liters which is roughly 3.3 gallons. I added almost 2 gallons of coolant to it to fill it up. Which means the block holds about a gallon. So yeah, thats about a 60/40 solution.

60/40 is fine. Especially for summer.

sorry to question this Wren, but why would a hole help in this case? The thermostat is already open all the way when the temps have gone up? I understand it would slow the process of heating up but it would still go up...would it not?

Because it'll let the air through the system on startup when the engine is closed and the thermostat closed. It'll also allow the bubbles to pass after shutdown as the engine cools and the coolant pressure drops.
