Default Needing some suggestions...

Okay, Im going to try to keep it short but since I am new to forced induction cars (I previously had a 96 LT1 Formula) I have a few substantial questions on how to mildly upgrade/improve my 02 SSEi without compromising reliability/drivablility (I do NOT want to modify the deep internals of the engine). More or less what options do I have for the following?

Engine- smaller */c pulley, ignition upgrades, intakes, etc.

Tranny- shift improvers, kits and the like.

Wheels and Tires- Id like to go to an 18 in wheel with a decent performing tire that isn't "rubber bandish" looking. I dont want to sacrifice ride quality too much or make it way larger than stock sizing, a conversion if you will. Mainly this is asthetic due to wanting black wheels. Are there GM wheels that would work?

Visual asthetics- Is there any "ram air" style hoods that arent overwhelming? Nothing like a 7 inch cowl or anything crazy like that. Headlight/ Taillight blackouts? Window Ventshades?

I hope Im not being too vague, let me know if my info is not sufficent. Thanks in advance for the advice.

P.*. I almost forgot, where also are these potential items available?

I'll let other guys chime in on the powertrain, but for tims and tires the GXP has 18" rims, getting a set can be hard to come by because we all want them

There are no ram air hoods made for our cars, but it has come up a few times, if I had some money to throw at it I would put some scoops on and cut a hole into the hood to cool down the engine bay

People including myself have taken the orange reflectors which is called clearing our headlights, that is illegal though, and put a stealth bulb in its place (its chrome when off, amber when lit)

You can tint your tailights, I haven't really seen it on a 2000+, pick up a can or 2 of VHT Nightshades and a good clearcoat, theres a thraed around here somewhere on how to do it

As for the PCM Intense has the better tune for the Bonni, it'* pretty much drop in, some people say is no SES light comes on you are fine, but a CASE (Crank Posistion VAriation Learn) its helps the engine detects mis-fires I think

You can decreases the drive pulley on the supercharger, but you don't want to go any smaller than a 3.5 without having the ability to tune for knock retard.

A cold air intake system helps and keeps the intake air cooler. There are several different kits you can get - fender well intakes, etc.

There are shift kits available as well.

PCM upgrade can be as minimal as a performance improvement or as radical as a custom flash. You can also pony up the dollars buy a programing system and after a huge learning curve, can change most engine parameters.

There are lots of different specialty sites that cater to the 3800 motor. Many of us have bought parts and accessories from Intense Racing INTENSE-Racing.com - G8, Grand Prix, Bonneville, Regal, L67 3800 Supercharged Performance Products. as well as 3800 Performance 3800 Performance - high performance aftermarket car parts for your Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Impala, Regal, Bonneville, and V6 F-body!!

Easy starter mods are smaller pulley, 3.5", you will need a puller or know someone near by with a puller. I have one if you want to maek the drive. PCM is a swap but you need a case learn, or know someone with tuner software, again, like me. 180* thermostat, cold air or fenderwall intake, shift kit, I've installed several of these. That covers the engine. Unless you want to get in to exhaust, PEM, powerlog, or headers. Intense racing, ZZ performance, and W body store are good places to get aftermarket parts.

What are you referring to as "case learn"? Who has the 3.5 pulley? Does SLP still make one? Is it decent? Does K & N make an intake?

You can get a pulley at intense racing, or ZZ performance. The CASE learn tells the PCM where the engines TDC is.

Does SLP still make one? They have them also.

Is it decent? SLP? I can't answer that. I don't have an SLP.

Do K & N make an intake? Not as a direct replacement fit. You can buy several different kits and make your own. Most of the aftermarket one that will fit our cars, use a cone filters simalar to the K&N one, and a K&N can be adapted
See above in the quote area...
