Need second opinions, advice...
So I've switched to a 180 t-stat and put on a magnaflow cat, now I need help with priorities. Should I go for a FWI or tranny cooler first? I'm really interested in trying to make my tranny last as loooonng as possible, but it already has 130K, is it worth getting the cooler? But I like the idea of the FWI. I just have a certain amount of money to put into my car and I have to choose between the two.
P.*.- you guys are a REALLY ba influence :P

Since you're already power mod'ing I would hit the tranny cooler first. The harder you mash the pedal the more th tranny could use that cooler.
I hope Will will post the cooler he says he should have gotten again. I definitely going to get one.

Transmission coolers can be gotten for pretty cheap. Is your transmission acting up now? Or is it just the miles that has you thinking? Honestly I would say unless your always beating on your car & transmission for the FWI.

I dropped a cooler on mine at about 140K. Then I abused the heck out of that transmission to 175K when I drove it 12 hours to have it rebuilt. Sure..it had worn parts..nothing failed though. Keeping a trans cooler in the summer is always a good thing and the brand of cooler is Tru-cool. Their design keeps the fluid restricted until a certain temperature is reached. That way you don't overcool the trans.

Here'* a decent site that can help you determine what size to use, how to install, and other good info. It includes links to the Tru-Cool site.

It looks like you should be able to get one for $50-52, just under twice the cost for a generic aluminum cooler from Advance/AutoZone.
