need help with tuning and driveability issues
I will make long story short I am attempting to get my car dialed in on the tune and it is getting closer but here is the 2 things that have me baffled. I am leaving the front valve cover fill cap to vent the pcv system since it seems that it doesnt like it the other way. so when i have it in gear and am just leaving it at a high idle like backing up or whatever it will buck and try to stall out, I was backing up from the gas station at a in gear idle and it bucked then stalled and I had to restart. I am trying to dial in the maf closer and closer but it seems to be happier and at least it isnt stupid lean now.
the second issue is I am trying to dial in the ve table so I have a fall back if the maf dies. I tried to start it this am and it was almost like it was not getting fuel or something then I turned the fuel pump and turned it on high with the tuner and still the same thing but seemed to last a fraction of a minute longer.
one off the wall question what is the purpose of the cylinder balance test in the vcm special tabs

To do a VE, I unplugged the maf and started the car with some throttle. keep the engine running until it learns enough of the idle to keep itself running. Usually a minute or two. Prepare for potential stalls when you first start driving it this way. I two footed a little at lights etc to be prepared for a stall.
Once you do a VE, that may change your entire maf table slightly ... if yours is one that uses VE. My Bonne did.
The cylinder balance IIRC is aimed at skewing the center two cylinders for the added heat etc from being in the middle to balance them out.
