MagnaFlow Catalytic Converter - which one?

MagnaFlow Catalytic Converter - which one?

The SSE exhaust upgrade installation will be coming up next week, using the MagnaFlow muffler and ANSA tips.
Now I'm wondering if changing to the MagnaFlow CAT would be a good idea in the near future?
Do I need the oval with air-tube unit or ?
I know I'll need the 2.5" in/out, and I'm guessing the oval is the correct one, but, I don't know about the air-tube...yet.
You guys tell me which one I need.

Uh, I know some of you have removed the cat, but somebody must know which is the right one to put IN...
I've been looking on the internet and can't seem to find out if I need the air tube, let alone what the difference is with or without it.

I'd just put in a high flow Cat. I personally wouldn't buy a magnaflow. You're buying the name. Autosound is much cheaper, and High flow. My Autosound is the same size for a full size pickup, and is also a high flow design. Cost me 99 bucks, and 55 to install.

Check out that picture on the MagnaFlow link. They show the oval with the tube, and the round without the tube.

Yep. I have NO CLUE what it'* for, but, I'd feel dumber'n a stick if I bought the wrong one...
I'll e-mail MagnaFlow and ask 'em which one I need and report back with the WHY I need it!

Alright, our cars use a 3-way catalytic converter. We don't use a 3 way + air injection. Our engine is small enough where it is not required. Basically the air injection is used on larger vehicles like the 98+ Camaro'*/Firebird'* to reduce emissions. So instead of using 4 cats for the 5.7L, they can use 2 and leave the exhaust a little more unrestricted and a package it better. Mustangs on the other hand use 4 cats (2 pre cats and 2 actualy cats) which is cheaper but reduces exhaust flow alot. That is one of the way Ford keeps power down. But getting back to topic on hand, you need a 3 way cat w/o air injection. If we had it you would see a little air tube running into it and a air pump nearby.

Hmmm... I had the cat replaced on my '93 SSEi last year, and although the muffler shop owner wouldn't let me keep the old cat because he said it had to be used for a core charge, the part number he installed was Car Sound #94416 and it had a single air
tube.
I believe the one for my '92 SSE */c is a different part #; not sure about any other bonnie years/models.
