Default MAF and K&N question

Ok.. If i keep the MAF screen in, put a K&N filter in my gutted air box, and attach a bigger hose for air to get in.. What am i looking at in performance gain.

I'd say 5hp, but I wouldn't know exactly. But 5 sounds reasonable.

Realisticly, as much as I hate to say it, it is probably about 2 hp. 5hp TOPS. The main difference is in the sound. Unless you found some way to route air into the airbox other than the factory 3" tube, you aren't going to get much more, if any more air into the engine.

Not to hijack your post or anything, but what would i be looking at puting a whole new max-airflow intake it? Like 3 (or more)" aluminum tubing with a homemade aluminum airbox w/ K&N at a 45* angle to the airflow (for MAX filtering power) and an aluminum tube down to ny airdam for RAM air (all insulated of course)...... This was just what ive been starting to work on at my dad'* shop....
