Default MSD #8224 Installation Tips?

Don't know how she managed, but the little woman got me a set of coils for my L27 this X-Mas
Since I don't want to hurt her feelings, I'm gonna be forced to put them in this weekend
I had done the plugs/wires a couple of months ago: perhaps she heard me cussin' as I cut myself getting the old parts out & felt sorry for me...
Of course I'll be saving the stockers as back-up [just in case], but I was wondering: is there anything I should watch out for/check for or any additional things I should do while I swap the old for the new?

5.5mm socket. Mark your wires and the coil post number sequences. Or take a pic before you start. Put dielectric grease on the 6 contacts coming out of the ICM, and on all 6 coil posts.

You're not likely to notice a difference. Perhaps a slightly smoother idle.

Kewl, thanx...I wasn't expecting any massive performanceimprovement, but it certainly can't hurt & hopefully won't be any worse [especially for free!]

Should I bother taking out/putting back the ICM [just for the sake of cleaning up/making better contact]?

Absolutely. Clean the underside of the ICM and the top of the bracket. The ICM needs to ground through there.

You'll like the coils, even if you barely notice the difference. A little hotter spark never hurt anyone.

I'm sure I'll be pleased with the new coils...
One last question though: Do ya think there'* any way I could color them blue [without harming them, of course]?...My CAI pipe is blue & in a perfect world, I'd like the coils to match

Mask off the posts and the bottoms. I wouldn't think paint would hurt them. Just make sure you de-grease/oil them well first, and use a primer designed for plastic adhesion.

And take it to the next level:

You can get the vinyl transfer numbers from craft and fabric stores. These are laser-engraved.
