LG3 top swap to supercharged S1?

Yes... I have seen a world of the old LG3'* eat Bottom ends before 200k.. Years back we knew any one we would see in a yard that was not wrecked was there for a Bottom end issue.. We even got the guys to help us start a couple of them... First thing you heard was Thud Thud Thud...
In all honesty, I wouldn't want to see him supercharge that engine...
Better off using a Complete L67 Powertrain.. In the long run this would be cheaper..
Also the port spacing on the LG3 heads( intake side ) are not spaced like the LN3-L27-67

What a shame. :? Now that I recall, the hood was propped up with the plunger because the crankshaft sensor had popped off, and 1337ssei'* dad just so happened to be passing by with plungers. Good find on that pic, btw. Thanks.
I took a buttload of other pics, but my friend finds shame in whorage.

I can post a better reply later. If you search/google you'll find my project where I swapped S1 L67 stuff from the heads on up (kept my LN3 heads). Lots of photos and info.
No abnormal wear found when i had the oil lab tested. Thing is the harmonic balancer keyway/key got screwed up bad, why I don't know, but probably due to the different balancing between the LN3 and L67 (external versus internal). Consider the additional transmission wear too, though mine lasted 20k miles fine (started out with 152k on the original tranny, with Mobil 1 ATF and an additional cooler).

I think I remember someone other than F14Crazy trying the top-swap, but I believe it was an N/A all the way. IIRC, they had to do some reshaping on the cooling ports between heads and block, and the oiling ports, too. That may have been a S1/S2 hybrid I'm thinking of though, and I'm not sure if they ever got it running.
the LG3 is not that weak. a guy on the lesabre forum has an N/A LG3 pushing 245hp

It'* fun to mod engines and such, but for an 86 Oldsmobile, is it easier just to trade to something better? I'll definitely give my friend this link, though. Let'* see how far we can take this before the neighbors start wondering (we're neighbors).

Like any 3800 the LG3 3.8 V6 is overbuilt for what it was intended... And they are modifiable
..... I have seen these old motors easily make 280 ft lbs and 200+ hp easily..
I'm sure this can be done with an LG3.. But the Top swap is another story, and at that point it would be simpler to get a complete L67 Drop out and adapt
