Default Lazy Boy Throttle Body Cleaning

Greetings!

I realize that the best way to clean my '93 L27s TB is to remove it, but can I use a throttle body cleaner spray to do a half-a$$ decent job while it'* still attached?...I was going to run the engine up to normal temp, then remove the MAF [after shutting the engine down] and spray the $hit out of the TB, re-install the MAF, then start her up to blow out the crap......I would repeat this until I ran out of spray or didn't notice anything disgusting coming out of the exhaust....My question is: since this procedure would involve many removal/replacements of the MAF & starting/stopping of the engine, is it possible to run the engine with the MAF out of the TB so that I could rev it while spraying?.....If not, is it feasable to leave the MAF in, and to carefully spray without hitting the MAF?.....BTW, after I put in my new CAI, I was able to remove the MAF screen, so that'* not an issue...Has anyone done this?...

Thanx,
Andy

I advise against doing that.
Its only $6 for a tb gasket, you get a better cleaning, you dont run the risk of fowling your plugs or O2 sensor.
Start stop start stop is hard on any engine, break out the ratchet and elbow grease

I'm going to replace the plugs/ O2 sensor/ oil after I do this anyway...I'm just wondering if the engine will run/rev with the MAF out of the TB...Or, if not, if it'* feasable to leave the MAF in and spray carefully without hitting it..

No it isnt. Why would you want to risk ruining an expensive sensor when you can take off the tb in only a few minutes and get it clean. If you do it the lazy way, itll never turn out right.

the L27 TB is a Bitch to get off the bolt that is covered by the crossover pipe. the L67 is alot easier.....I suggest taking the TB off tho to clean it

I took the TB of a 93 L27 Saturday. It was a breeze, but appearently it had been off before. That brace dealy was there and mounted to the TB, but not to the studs below. I'm not sure why someone even put it back on if they were not going to mount it properly.
