K&N need help FAST
ok i checked my airfilter today because it was warm and its clogged pretty bad.
well instead of shelling out 5 bucks for a elcheapo filter i want a open element or cone type K&N. what i need to know is what size? shape ? length? do i need? or a part # would be great
btw 99 bonny 3800 series II
thank you very much
Im trying to get one asap

The Part No for our filter from K&N is 33-2086. But to let you know, the diffence a paper filter and a K&N is negligible. What will really make more power is removing the restricting factory intake and replacing it with something that is straight and smooth to build more torque and rpm'*. I have a 99 Bonneville SE so we are basically the same except you probably have some fancier interior.
weli order a 3.5 opening to a 9 inch length 5 inch element. its the best i could find
im going to do what other GP owners have done and get some pvc tubbing from home depot.
BTW
that thrasher shift kit hopw much of a jolt do you get at wot and do you chirp your tires?
also how much did i t cost to install and is it at all possible to do your self??
i am interestedin getting the stage 2 one not to wild but not to mild. i want a little performance but i dont want to feel it when around town driving.

Yes, I did install the Shift Kit with a friend and the instructions are pretty easy to deal with. The wording is a little odd but you can figure it out. And the shift kit doesnt really chirp tires cause we dont have as much torque as the GTP'*. I have it on the highest setting now so I can shift quicker and damn does it shift. The front end of the car lurches on the 1-2 shift. But I will drop it down to the second setting for "firmer" shift so I dont break the transmission once I get the Comp Cam for our engine and Thrasher heads. That should add approx 70hp to the crank.
You really shouldnt use PVC because it might melt of something from the heat. I used aircraft aluminum from http://www.burnsstainless.com. You could also use steel or something similar. And mine is 3" so I develop torque and velocity with the air. And I used an import foam filter because it would get all the oil on the MAF like the K&N'* tend to do over time as they keep getting cleaned and reused.

You have a point with the PVC melting. But, I have PVC on my CAI. I put in PVC becuase I never really heard of anybody'* melting. That'* just a rumor. How much heat do you really have to put on that thing to melt it? More than what the car produces. Aluminum is good, though. But i payed 1.50 for my pipe and I know the aluminum or steel costs much more than that. And, I dont see the point of a CAI without the K&N. You only have to clean the K&N every 50,000 miles unless under extreme conditions so how much oil is really hitting the MAF screen? Or you could just remove the screen.
what about exhaust pipe??? could that work. I looked for some metal tubbing but its all 4 inches and i need a 3.5 tube.
For right now im gonna use my K&N inside the acording tubbing.
let ya know how it turns outtomarrow.

Here'* a link i got from bonneville intensity. It matches my setup except for the pcm, and i located the temp sensor lower, but all in all it works fine. And no, it didn't melt. This pvc is made of sewer quality ( i know that sounds bad, but hey, it'* true) materials, so it has to conform to cetain temp standards. all of these are above or below regular engine temps, unless you live in hell
