Default K&N Filter problem...

I've noticed that when you buy a K&N cone filter, it'* just the filter, nothing in it already to hose clamp to your pipe... Is there an additional piece you have to purchase as an adapter?

Buy the right diameter, and it slips right over your pipe. And it comes with a clamp.

Ok, ok... I am completely in agreement with both of you on how it should work, but the problem is... When I went to both O'reilly AND Autozone today, I opened the actual K&N boxes that were on the shelves to find the right one, but each box contained a filter with a hollow hole, no rubber sticking out at all... When I asked the sales associates at both stores (which is not saying much, but hey, they're supposed to know their products) they said that what'* in the box is everything, nothing additional from behind the counter.

The highlighted part below is what'* missing in the ones I looked at today...

Whereas, if you look at this... http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=2784
It appears to come on the filter from the factory. Just curious if anyone has had this unusual problem at their local parts store. I'm to the point I may just order the thing and sacrifice the shipping cost.

On a final note, any idea if K&N makes filters in a different color? Not really picky, but blue would sure as heck go better with everything else I've got than that off-orange/red color, lol.

All the dimensions are posted on their website.

You're looking at drop-in replacement filters for factory applications.

You NEED to be looking at universal replacment cone filters on their website and choose the one you want, or tell us the outside diameter of your pipe, and we'll suggest a filter.

Ditto. The universal filters will have that part. The filter you were looking at it meant to replace someones factory filter in their airbox.

I finally got one of the universal ones. I found out that the ONE universal AutoZone carried in-store here was the ONE universal I needed, so naturally it was "out-of-stock".

Thanks for the help guys!
