I just added a K&N intake and am very pleased with the sound (except for startup its very loud & ratling like). Now I am not sure what the next mod should be? Do I add different exhaust or do headers, any ideas would be great.

180* Thermostat should come soon before doing any more heavy mods.

I would do exhaust personally.

Headers my be alittle extreme for NA but I could be wrong. Ported Exhaust manifolds would probably be more suited to a NA and be much cheaper too. Rockers are always good too.

I did dual exhaust first, followed by K&N intake. I lost some low end torque with the dual exhaust, but got it back with the K&N intake. Yes, the K&N intake makes the loud snorkelling sound for the first minute after you start it. You'll get used to it.

I'd recommend dual exhuast muffler. I went with Magnaflow and am very happy with it, with a pair of oval Ractive tips.

My next planned performance mods are suspension. I want to put in FE2 swaybars and springs, energy suspension endlinks, and I'm hoping to convert to ELC if I can make it happen, so that means new struts.

Hoping to get the FE2 parts and ELC from another member parting out a 95 SSEi.

Hey bugsi do you have any pics of your exhaust? I have heard others talk about some low end torque loss, is this for both a dual tip muffler and dual exhaust. Is it even worth it for me to add dual exhaust with a NA. Or would i be getting better results with a double tip muffler?

To clarify: Dual exhaust on a Bonneville through 1999 means "using a single-inlet, dual-outlet (camaro style) muffler." That'* what I did. My parts and install pics are all in this thread:

Is it worth it to add dual exhaust (that is, going to a single-in, dual-outlet muffler) to your L36? Personally, I totally think it is, so long as you also have a K&N intake, which you do. It adds a tremedous throaty growl that really springs to life when you step on the "happy pedal". Because I did the muffler first, I noticed the drop in low-rev power. After I did the K&N intake, I was happy to have my power back.

I personally wouldn't bother changing out the cat to a high-flow model, because I honestly don't think it will result in any meaningful added power. I'm speculating on this though, I haven't done it so I don't actually know for certain. I'd also keep the stock resonator and all the stock exhaust pipes back to the muffler, since they are stainless.

I also don't think there'd be any significant value in swapping out your stock exhaust manifolds for headers, since the stock manifolds are short and very header-like to begin with. There might be some value in porting the stock manifolds. On the other hand, I doubt headers would hurt anything. I think there'* some supercharged club members who have the TOGs headers.

Wheres a good place to pickup a pcm? I have seen intense mentioned, are they pretty decent. Am i able to re-calibrate the pcm after i have it? i noticed that intense gives you a ton of specs to choose from but i can modify that myself if i later add a mod that requires different settings?
