It'* come to my attention.....
That my porting and polishing DIY work may have backfired. There may be members of this Forum that think any joe can do it with any tool in the box.
Wholesale cutting on Superchargers and LIM'* is NOT a good thing. Alot of research and a bit of general knowledge are a must. The right tool for the right job is next in importance.
Trying to do something with a file, dremel, or die-grinder that should be done on a vertical endmill will get you nowhere but into a pile of scrap parts.
I KNOW this. I have a pile of scrap parts. I've tried things on various parts that DIDN'T work. Just because you see it in a picture doesn't mean you can do it, or that it will work for whatever reason.
The WORST THING YOU CAN DO is head into a P/P job as a SECRET. This Forum is here to make sure you get the help you need to do it right the first time. To SAVE you time and money.
There have been a couple times in the last month that I've regretted ever posting my DIY topics on some of these subjects for this very reason.

what can I port or modify to improve blower efficiency and performance? Sorry, but we don't have the answer to that one! It would appear that some polishing and porting on the inlet and outlet would be beneficial, but we'd caution you not to try this at home

I've learned alot. I think I have a pretty good idea from computer-modeled thermal analysis and my own trials of self-porting. But it didn't come at a low cost, and I did develop some scrap.

good info man...i know i was all fired up on p&p my exhaust manis, LIM, and TB. I stopped and thought about it and decided i would wait and keep watching your findings. Instead of tearing up working (although extra) parts.

I don't think Bill is saying not to do any P&P, but just to entrust the tough stuff to those that know how if you are not familiar with the work and do not have the tools, knowledge, or experience necessary to do it correctly.
For example: I purchased my PEMs instead of trying to learn all the ways and methods to do them right. I'm getting a TB machined, by a competent machinist. I'll do the polishing myself by hand...because it doesn't require special tools, just special knowledge researched here. If and when I do the LIM, it will be after discussing it with those that have successfully done it already and I'll make sure to have the correct tooling and research done in advance.
As in anything you do to critical parts of your car, being in a hurry and not taking the time to learn and practice before plunging blindly ahead, can cost you dearly. At best you will end up with some expensive boat anchor parts...at worst, another parts car for the JY to haul off.
