What do you guys think about the street/strip shift kit over the TransGo 4T65E Shift Kit. Whats the difference between the two.

I was under the impression that INTENSE sells the TransGo kit. Maybe I'm wrong.

I have the TransGo on my 4T60E(HD) and LOVE it.

What would be better for a daily driver.

By looking at their website it appears they sell both.

The Intense kit looks like it'* much more complete. The following quote was taken directly from Intense'* site.

For the record, my 4T60 kit was much more complete than the TransGo 4T65 kit. My kit sounds more like the INTENSE kit.

Street? TransGo. Strip? INTENSE.

4T60? TransGo all the way.

I just installed a Thrasher shift kit in my 98 LeSabre 4T65E. Got it for $90 delivered.

I considered TransGo, but it didn't come with a new filter or separator plate, and is therefore way overpriced at about $80-90 delivered.
I considered the Intense kit, but the only significant difference I could see between it and the Thrasher is that the Intense includes some sandpaper and some grease...to me, these items weren't worth the approximately $40-50 more the Intense kit would have cost versus the Thrasher.

Granted, any of these kits can be replicated with less than $20 worth of springs and shims (according to certain webpages I've seen)...but it was worth it to me spend more to get a "proven" kit that included extras like a filter, new piston seals, and a new separator plate (and a free T-shirt!).

I soon plan to write a separate "quicky" review of the Thrasher shift kit...

Are these kits a fairly easy driveway install with jackstands and basic handtools? Or is it a safer bet to have someone who is familiar with transmissions to do the install?

That depends on the kit, and the trans. Most of the basic 4T65E kits can be self-installed. The vendor should clearly state in the description whether it is or isn't.

4T60E shift kits are not self-install. They require removal of the valvebody for modification.

Alright i have the 4T65E-HD i believe so I'll have to look into that.

the Intense kit is easly installable in the driveway on stands. (although a lift is really nice)
