Mine looked exactly like that till I made an intake, then covered is with the same stuff.

How much heat do you think transfers from a hot intake tube/plenum with the air velocities our cars (especially supercharged) demand? We should all be more concerned with the temperature of the air we suck in than the temp of the pipe itself. Just something to think about.

It'* all part of the whole thing. Another thing to consider... (yeah i know) is to make sure your pipe isn't touching the TB. You'll get false KR, and you'll have direct heat transfer between the metals.

well one way it does have a cost to it is Jetcoating...have my headers done and the rest of my exhuast/turbo/ piping jetcoated .unbeliveable heat reduction
