as far as i know those prices are in USD. as far as what a MAF screen is.....its a screen on the throttle body that straightens out the air thats coming in. for more info read this. http://bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=40
I wish knew how many miles 294,000 kms was, but these engine last and last. I wouldn't worry too much about something breaking if you maintain it, change the oil religiously
and since you have a 93 you don't have to worry about the upper intake failure. Is it in good shape now? If it is just keep it that way. Throw in a 180 thermostat to help keep it cool, and a tranny cooler as well.

the upper intake is only a problem on a seriese 2, which is a later 90'* bonneville n/a engine... so nothin concerning yours... if you looking to spend low money on an intake that wont take away your low end... i'd sudgest a kn airfilter ($60 max) and gutting your air box... ripping out all the extra restricting plastic inside it so the engine can breathe through the entire filter.... a cone would give you a bettter top end peak in power and better sound... but with the series 1 your already hurting at top end... so you want to get your low end torque as high as possiible
