Default I have a 95' SSE And need help on making it faster

I have a 95' SSE and i was seeing if anyone out there could help me out on making it faster. cause my friend in his 01' Grand Am Gt beats me off the line by like 2 car lengths and than i catch him on the long run. While on the HWY i stay with him in 3rd gear and start to pull away till i hit 4th and he starts catching back up and beating me. so i was seeing if anyone could help me out on making my bonnie faster. and i would like to know where i can get it done and and where to look and maybe some links for online stores.

Thanx,
Matt

Well, you can go with the 180 degree thermostat to make it cooler. We have the plastic intake that is prone to cracking under high abuse, so the 180 will keep it very cool and last longer.

Then you can go with a better intake. You could buy a pre-made one, or go with a gutted airbox with a high flow filter. Then, you can upgrade your spark plugs to get a nice healthy spark. From there, you could do exhaust work, but you will lose low end torque in the long run.

Unfortunately, there is so custom computer chip for the 95. That'* because we are a transition year. It kinda sucks, cause I have a 95 like you.

These are simple things you can start with, and go from there.

First things first. 180 stat like Sol said, keep the engine cooler, tranny cooler is not a bad idea to do that.

Then do a complete tune up. Plugs, wires, filters, fluids, PCV, sensors. Once that is done, look into exhaust options. A high flow cat and a performance muffler with give a nice HP jump. An upgraded intake, or cold air intake would be top notch as well.

Read over some of the signatures on the club to get more mod ideas. But this list is the basics.

Yeah, those are the basics. But get the 180 stat from http://www.grandprixstore.com (click "Under the Hood") first. And the tranny cooler. Buy your insurance first so to speak.

Other links that may help:

http://www.domesticperformance.com

If he'* still around: http://www.angryducktofuracing.com for an intake. Myself and others have it. It'* a great mod!

http://www.exhaustproslinc.com I got my Magnaflow from here.

Welcome to the club!!

No chips for 95...don't try. Trust me.

Unless you can find some company to do a custom burn.

I'm not sure if the internal of the 95 L36 are the same as a 97+, but if they are...there is a world of performance out there for ya. ZZP and Intense are the first I think of.
