How to isolate INTENSE's FWI Filter on the 96-99 SSEi

The filter gets soaked with water when it rains. I mean dripping wet.
I'm curious to know what modifications to the fender others have done to keep the filter dry yet not reduce the effectiveness of the FWI

I did something very similar to what willwren did with his. It now sits about 3.5" higher then it did before but I'm still going to fab up some sort of shield for it; mine is yet to see rain
I got a square shaped plastic trash can and hacked it up on like 2 1/2 sides and bolted it to the existing splash shield to mostly enclose it. It'* WAY better than nothing, but I'm still not 100% happy yet. I try not to drive it in the rain in general though
Mine'* been wide open to the elements since mid December. I've driven through 12 hours of rain to Ohio and many other heavy rain situations... Oddly enough..I haven't had a single water issue.

Which is why I took it out.

I don't understand. I had the exact same setup as Gonneville (same year/model car, same parts since they were from him), and never once had a problem with water. (And yes, I checked it)
