Default How Do Higher Ratio Rockers Work?

First of all, what do higher ratio rocker arms do? Secondly, why did GM stop at the roller pivot without adding the roller tip?

1. Leverage. The distance from the pivot to the tip is longer, so the valves open farther, just not for more duration. You need a cam to change duration, but the cam can change lift as well, like rockers.

2. Cost.
