Yeah...but how many times did you put 3" duals on a car? You had to push some serious vapor for that.

I definately wouldn't waste my time going to something bigger. My dad runs a 2.25" exhaust on his GTP and when he takes it off (open 3" downpipe) the car isn't any quicker. With his old setup he dynoed 303whp with the exhaust off and 315whp with it on. Too big can hurt you more than too small.

You have a point there, the back pressure creates torque right?

there have been many studies done by the hot roddin magazines on tube size for both headers and exhaust out. BIGGER is not always BETTER.

Not always, X. Not always. SSEi95 lost low end torque, and dbtk2'* Dad proved otherwise in his GTP.

I ran duel 3" on my 66 440ci plymoth, and it loved it. It pushed a ton of vapor.(half of it unburnt). it had way more power than the stock duel 2.25 or 2.50.(whatever it had). Anyways, I trust your guys opinion and will stay with a 2.5 cat.

Default How 'bout NO Cat??

Hey, all. I am paying close attention to this and a few other threads about performance upgrades, so what if you just cut the catalytic converter OFF and replaced it with a straight pipe?

Is there a sensor that would need fooling? How bad is my exposure for legal problems?

Oh, and :P :?

thanks!! Jim O. (remind me to change my sig; I sold the GTO)

'97 SSE with hogged-out airbox (thanks, guys!) and removed engine installation plates...

Not sure about over in the Hoosier state, but over here in the Keystone state if the proper authorities catch you running a car that is supposed to have a cat (i.e. not grandfathered in), they will give you a nice hefty fine. You can take the chance, but I would say that it'* not worth it.
