Default heres a newb pulley size question.

i tried searching and just couldn't find what i was looking for.

is there a thread, or a faq somewhere that lists the pulley sizes, power gains with each size and mods nessisary to support them?

if not, their probably should be.

A thread like that is a good idea but one pcm may act differently then another. So they don't always react the same to the same mods, a thread like that could only be used as a guideline. I think I saw one a Club Gp once but they were talking about headers and such just for a 3.4"

from what i've picked up you should be able to run a 3.4 with like spark plugs, T-stat and a tranny cooler, maybe intake.

i'm just going to be doing this swap soon and i want to know what kind of cam and rockers to use, since they cannot be changed once the motor is in.

Well with a 3.4" I would recommend t-stat, plugs, intake and maybe a high flow cat. But scanning is your friend and is the only way of knowing if your setup is safe. But to your question I would recommend Harland Sharp rockers (1.6 ratio) that intense carries and maybe a Intense stage 1X cam or ZZP Xp-hot cam.

what kind of pully limit would i be looking at with something like that? more specificly, at what pulley size would that valvetrain no longer support it.

also, what effect would those mods have on a stock, or close to stock pulley? would it be too much cam and therefore be detrimental to the performance of the stock 3.8 charger, working against it. would it still have a noticable gain or would the gain me so slight that the mods wouldn't even be noticed?

still very new to these motors... sorry.

you need to scan the car because everyone one is different...I would recommend getting a MPS system with a 3.5 and a 3.4...you may be able to run w/o KR on the 3.4 and then again maybe not....

on the cam and rockers thing....i would either do 1.9 ratio with OR rods and springs...if your camming the stock ratio rocker is fine, there is an aftermarket 1.6 avaialble...you will need stronger springs with the cam..... you can then lower the pully size even more to a 3.2

Marik, WHICH supercharger? There are 3 different SC'* from 91-03. They all use different pulleys to attain the same boost levels.

right now i'm looking at the series 2 which i beleive is an M-90. if i cannot find a suitable S2, i will pick up an S1 which would probably be an easier swap anyway. i'd rather have the aftermarket support the S2'* have.

Yeah the Series 2 has the M90, but IMO I think a cam would be better then rockers. Also I think someone is selling a bunch of unused things such as 1.6 ratio(stock ratio) Harland Sharps for $380 shiped.

you guys keep saying that a scan tool is your friend and all that and i do plan on getting one, hopefully that i can install and keep in the car all the time, however i am under the impression that they only work while driving at WOT, and not when the engine is sitting on a stand in my garage.

which is why i'm trying to figure this out now. when it goes in i want to have all the deep engine stuff done already, but most likely a stock pulley and all that good stuff.

i still haven't decided on which engine i'm going with though... i wish L67swap.com would come back up... they had to choose the week i decided to do my swap to shut down... *sigh*
