GXP brakes
GM Perfomance Division front rotors suck as they warp every 10,000 miles and need dressed. Also GMPD pads on front generate a ridiculous amount of dust. I'll wash the car, make a quick beer run and have to dust off the front wheels. Both components are an obvious mismatch for the copious amounts of grip provided by the dual piston calipers and emungously huge diameter rotor.
Here'* my plan for upgrades during winter storage...
Going to Cross drilled / dimpled and slotted rotors all 4 corners to eliminate warping. Slots should help through dust away from wheel too.
I can't decide between ceramic or semi metallic pads though.
Ceramic should be cleaner but semi metallic may provide better grip, offsetting the weight of the Northstar.
Ceramic should absorb heat but semi metallic should be quieter.
Any comments? Any experiance with this set up?

i just did the GXP brake swap. I had some time left on my rotors/pads. When i do need to replace, i will go with the R1 concepts drilled/slotted rotots and ceramic pads
xtremerevolution did the drilled and slotted upgrade to his car and he said it improved the brakeing

I went with ceramic pads since I can't stand the brake dust I had with the old pads. $55 for each set (front and rear) at Advance Auto.
Zinc coated too for rust protection. Try getting that for $180 a pair shipped elsewhere.

Best damn deal out there. I chose R1 Concepts because I've talked to many people who have had great experiences with them. So far I've bought 5 pairs of rotors from them for my and other friends' cars, and they've all had excellent results with them and were very satisfied. Oh, and after each purchase, they give you a $10 off coupon, so you can order the fronts, wait for the coupon, then order the rears with the discount.

NAPA makes a "ceramix" pad that combines the materials and qualities of each. After 15,000 miles with them so far, I like them. Much less dust and great stopping power wet or dry.

I actually tried those for the rear of my regal. They all wore prematurely and didn't seem to be that much of an improvement over the previous decent semi-metallic pads I had on there.

I havent seen any braking improvement since the switch, but alot less dust. And GXP'* just seem hungry to eat pads. At least ones routinely slowy down from the other side of 100. I'll be going over to full ceramic, but not untill I switch out the old non vented/not drilled rotors. The OEM pads did enough damage to the front rotors. At the time I didnt want to put full ceramic on a rotor half used up.
