OK how, what, why would you gut an airbox...how do yah do it, what does it do? What will be the difference?

I haven't looked at yours closely.

But the 92-99 boxes are restrictive and have baffles inside that slow down the intake of airflow. Gutting removes the restrictions and allows the engine to breath better. More air..more power..more power..more smiles.

i will take pictures....

i just had it open last night, and another shop went and replaced my damn K&N, now i have no money to get another one...so im suck with a FRAM...eww... yeah i will dig it apart a lil bit and take pics...

It'* really only the S2 motors that have the restrictive airbox. The 92-95 isn't bad. There are a few little things you can do (like removing the cone on the front) but thats about it.

Yeah, on the S1 it'* like a longish cone with a couple of "bumps" (resonating chambers or something) that goes towards the back of the passenger side headlamp.

Removing it shows minimal gains though, I would invest in a "proper" intake.

John...yours is a big box on the side of the fender well right? If I remember right..it'* probably the best non restrictive design ever make.

yeah i have taken it apart and it does not look very restrictive.... and the snorkel doesnt either..i mean it is only an N/A it can only handle soo much air....[/img]
