The GTP got a new mod, so the SSEi got an old one!!!
We installed a ZZP Electric Water Pump on the GTP last weekend. It is supposed to gain 10hp at 6000rpm. I don't know if it did or not, but I am pretty sure it helped. Anyways, because of this, we had an extra ZZP lightweight water pump pulley lying around doing no good. So I was looking at it today, and said, what the hell, why is this sitting here when there is a perfectly good SSEi sitting over there that is just screaming for more mods. So what did I do, open the hood and took the belts off of course!
I unbolted the 4 water pump pulley bolts and pulled the pulley off. Then sliped the lightweight pulley on there and put the 4 bolts back in finger tight. Then I put the belts back on it. Then I pulled out the K&N filter (in the stock airbox) and decided it needed a cleaning since it hasn't had one in probably 40,000 miles or so. (way too long!) So I cleaned the filter and was letting it dry, so I pulled out the dremel and dremeled away at the stock airbox. I didn't do too much, so I can't really consider it gutting the airbox, but I took out the plastic piece that has 2 screws holding it in, and I dremeled out the sides of the round hole that guides the air at the filter. It kind of deflected the air away from the throttle body so I dremeled it out hoping that it would be better. It probably isn't much better than stock, but I can't see how it could be worse. So then I put the airbox back in, put the K&N filter in it, and put it back together. Then I went in and got the keys and started her up. It ran fine for a few seconds then I heard a sort of rubbing sound, then like a snapping noise, and then a metal banging around noise. I shut the engine off right away and as soon as I did I knew what had happened. I forgot to tighten the bolts for the water pump pulley all the way so they of course loosened up and off fell the pulley. I could only find two of the 4 bolts, but luckily we had the 4 from the GTP lying around so I put two of those one there and tightened it with a ratchet this time. Put the belt back on and started her up, and now its fine.
I haven't driven it yet, but with the amount of dirt that was on the filter, and what I did to the airbox, and with the addition of the pulley, it should've woken the SSEi back up because it has been falling off performance wise lately. We will see.
The lightweight water pump pulley is ~2lbs lighter than the stock pulley reducing rotating mass significantly freeing up lost horsepower, yet it is still the stock size so you don't loose any water pump performance. It might be a good little mod for those of you looking to do little things like that to gain 2 horsepower or so.
We might be going to the dragstrip on Wednesday, if so I'll try to bring the SSEi up there and get some runs in and try to pull off something a little better than a 14.68.

Lol racing the for sale one Kinda scary with the start with no bolts, but hopefully no bolt hit anything important.
All those little things add up after a while too!
Aren't the electric water pumps "for racing only"?
