Got me some stickies
At the B-fest track day, I discovered a piece of metal in my rear tire after setting the ELC arm back to normal. Suprisingly it'* not leaking and have rode on it all week and aren't loosing any pressure. But I had to bite the bullet and get some new rubber, why not get the best I thought, so ended up getting these
Michelin Pilot Sport A/* (Ultra High Performance All-Season) in 235/55/ZR17
More info on them http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Read lots of reviews on several tires and choose these, the stickiest tire that still will be decent in Chicagos winters. 2nd choice was Pirelli PZero Nero M&*,These 2 tires are the only ULTRA high perf tire for all season btw. But in the reviews the Pirelli'* they are known to have what'* called "tramlining" which is a uncontrolled feeling on groved surfaces, and didn't want that on the bridges I go on often, hate it when you feel like hydroplaning accross a metal bridge or a grooved surface. so The Pilot Sports are going on soon. Had to order them ofcourse and should be on Monday/Tuesday.
I looked into going with a fatter tire on the same rim and decided against it do to the tire choice for 255/50/17 is slim and the BF T/A'* have some quatliy problems, also any local place would not gurantee them since they aren't designed for 7.5in rims.
I bought at Discount Tire and bargened with the guy, got at $185 a tire and that INCLUDES the mounting and ROAD FORCE balance and Road Hazard, along with free rotates. I've boughten from here before and if you ever have a problem they just give you new tires. My girlfriend bought tires from here last time and had a suspension problem shortly after and tires wore uneven, they still replaced them at no cost due to her POS Honda, they replace them TWICE too actually.
Hope I can make it couple more days with a piece of someones drivetrain in my left rear.
It'* just so unfortunite that I have to part with the crappy stock RSA'* so soon at 33K.
Now just waiting for a cool night and going for that 2.0 60 foot and hopefully that 13 second slip will be mine, also going to try a 3.2 at the track, and allow lots of cooling time.

The RSA are only rated at 40K anyway....be sure to put in race gas with that 3.2 and go light em up!
I considered these but too expensive for my taste. I think im going with the Yokohamas in the 255/50/17 variety. Let me know how they feel though, your input may sway me

Personnally I am going for the 255 50 17'*, in as sticky a tire as I can get. It won't be a summer/winter type with big rain grooves cause it won't be driven in that kind of weather.
One inch wider than stock will fit the stock wheels just fine.
My RSA'* have 30 K on them now and are just about due.

I'm glad this subject came up when it did. I had a blow out last monday and being on a low budget this week, I went to walmart and bought 1 tire :? The cheapest 225/60 16 they had $76 goodyear viva 2. the other tires have some tread on them but, I'm going to be in the market soon. I don't run at the track but, I'm looking for a good performance tire (BF TA'* wear out too fast) and I would like something with a slight lower profile and alittle wider on my stock rims. Any ideas? I noticed a mustang at work the other day . It had a nice looking set of Dunlaps on it. Can't remember what they where called. Any advice??

Everyone I know with the Pilot A/* thinks very highly of them. Let us knows how well they stick for you.
Don't feel back about the RSAs, I parted with mine at 22,000 Km and was glad to see them go.
Cheers,
